Dr. Mariale Hardiman

Dr. Mariale Hardiman was the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor Emeritus at the Johns Hopkins School of Education. She is the co-founder and director of the Johns Hopkins Neuro-Education Initiative (NEI). NEI is considered an innovative interdisciplinary program that provides educators with relevant research from the learning sciences through master's and doctoral programs in mind, brain and teaching, as well as professional development programs. Professor Hardiman also served as interim dean twice. Her research and publications focus on enhancing educational practice by promoting innovation and creative problem-solving techniques. Research includes randomized controlled trials investigating the effects of arts integration on long-term content retention and student engagement. She is also studying how learning science knowledge affects teaching practice and teacher efficacy beliefs. In addition, she has a strong interest in teaching practice, pedagogy, urban education, special education programs, and the education of special children, including gifted education.

Dr. Henry M. Smith

Dr. Clara Ma is a social scientist, entrepreneur, and professor at Johns Hopkins University.

She teaches Business Communication, Strategic Human Capital, and Business Leadership and Human Values at Johns Hopkins University. Her research with the Whiting School of Engineering focuses on leadership development; she co-founded the Neuro-Informed Leadership Development Institute (NILD) with Dr. Henry Smith, former Assistant Secretary of Education. She has twice received the "Diversity Advocate Award" from the College of Education for her development of a "Cultural Competence Training Model" to support Chinese international students.

She holds two certificates in private school leadership and neuro-education from Johns Hopkins University, a teaching certificate from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and a master's degree in educational leadership and a doctorate in entrepreneurial leadership from Johns Hopkins University. Professor Ma is also an ambassador for the university, and you will often see her representing Johns Hopkins University on social media. In 2024, she was also selected as a distinguished speaker to participate in the school's annual Women's Conference, advocating for the importance of female leadership in Western countries. As the top doctoral student of the year, she completed her studies two years earlier than the average graduation time.

He previously served as vice president of development/alumni affairs and director of partnerships for educational transformation at the school. He was a former U.S. Under Secretary of Education

; former Dover, New Hampshire city councilman and mayor; former New Hampshire Department of Public Transportation Secretary; taught at community colleges and George Washington University

Professor of Educational Policy; Founding Director of Corporate Relations at Tufts University.
