"Limitations of AI in Healthcare" is a cutting-edge course focusing on the pain points of the integration of artificial intelligence and the medical system. Through real cases, students will deeply analyze the performance bottlenecks, data privacy risks, ethical controversies, and actual impacts of AI on patient diagnosis and treatment outcomes in medical scenarios. The course aims to train the next generation of medical technology and policy makers, helping them understand the dynamic balance between technological innovation and ethical responsibility, and laying the foundation for future advanced degrees and career development in the fields of medical technology, public policy, or bioethics.

Target audience: High school and undergraduate students interested in technological innovation, public policy, and bioethics

Mentor Team

Research Supervisor: Dr. Ding
  • Academic background: Associate professor of radiation oncology and molecular radiation sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and also senior medical physicist in oncology.

  • Professional experience: Radiation Oncology Physics Resident and Medical Physicist at the University of Virginia, and has taught at Virginia Commonwealth University and Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center.

  • Research direction: Committed to improving the accuracy of lung cancer diagnosis through artificial intelligence and deep learning technology.

Instructor: Dr. Shelby Forbes
  • Academic background: Professor of sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an authority in the fields of health communication and organizational communication.

  • Research expertise: public speaking, cross-cultural communication, organizational behavior, and long-term advocacy of the practical application of diversity in medical organizations and social norms.

  • Teaching Experience: More than ten years of teaching and research experience in colleges and universities. His courses are known for their interdisciplinary integration and cultivation of social responsibility.
